ECO KITCHEN

At Alveus, April is traditionally dedicated to raising awareness about responsible environmental practices.

ECO KITCHEN

Why April? Because in April is EARTH DAY.

It is a day reminding us of the crucial importance of environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources.

It teaches us about the significance of sustainable living and preserving ecosystems for future generations.

It also emphasizes raising awareness about climate change and global warming.

Earth Day encourages us to take action, as each individual can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable planet.

Why is a sustainable approach so important to us?

Alveus is located in a particularly sensitive part of Slovenia, in the Loška Dolina.

Our production facilities are surrounded by the world-famous cave Križna jama.

Not far away is another natural landmark of the region – Lake Cerknica, the largest intermittent lake in Slovenia.

To make this coexistence possible, we treat our beautiful environment with utmost responsibility on all levels:

in development, waste management, low-energy production, we return purified, uncontaminated water to nature, Alveus products are of high quality, with a long lifespan, and some materials (stainless steel) are even 100% biodegradable.

Why is choosing Alveus products an environmentally responsible choice?

  1. Our most popular kitchen sink lines are made of stainless steel (inox). Stainless steel is an icon of sustainability and environmental protection, as it has a long lifespan and can be 100% recycled after use. Alveus has developed over 20 families of stainless steel sinks for every style and taste, from trendy minimalist lines to the smallest round ones to huge rectangular and double sinks. More about this sustainable material is available here.
  2.  Alveus products are packaged in eco-friendly packaging. We are aware that products must remain flawless when shipped, but we also know how waste packaging burdens the environment, so we also focus on improving the packaging of shipped products.
  3. Alveus products are made with nature preservation in mind. We proudly carry "green" certification, including environmental permits, and we are the first company with over 1000 employees to receive ISO 14001 certification for responsible environmental management.

In addition to choosing sustainable products, you can also ensure an eco-friendly kitchen by using natural cleaners.

Our experts have prepared some recipes for effective yet natural cleaners for your sink and tap.

1. BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR FOR CLEANING.

Wash the sink with water, and sprinkle baking soda on the moist surface, especially around the drain.

Scrub with a soft cloth, then spray with alcohol vinegar.

This removes most bacteria, and because both ingredients are food products, you don't have to worry about chemicals in this case.

After a few minutes, rinse with water and dry with a cloth.

Another option for combining baking soda and vinegar is to create a paste. Some add lemon juice to this mixture.

Put baking soda, vinegar (and lemon) in a cup and mix.

Initially, foam is created due to the reaction, and then a paste is formed, which you apply to surfaces with a cloth and rinse with water. This way, you can also clean the drain—pour the prepared paste into it and rinse with boiling water.

 2. WATER, VINEGAR, AND BAKING SODA

Combining these three ingredients creates an excellent natural cleaner for the kitchen and bathroom.

Mix in a spray bottle:

  • 0.5 liters of water
  • 0.5 liters of alcohol vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda

Spray the cleaner, leave it, scrub with a cloth, and rinse with water.

3. BAKING SODA AND LEMON

Sprinkle baking soda on half a lemon and rub the stain with it.

4. DEALING WITH LIMESCALE USING VINEGAR

Put a mixture of alcohol vinegar (i.e., pickling vinegar) in a spray bottle and spray it on the sink and faucet once a week.

After wiping with a soft cloth, they will be as good as new.

For stubborn limescale stains, soak a cloth in vinegar, wrap it around the desired area for 15 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

 5. LEMONS AND SALT

Moisten the sink and sprinkle salt over the entire surface.

Cut two lemons into slices and distribute them over the sink res, ting surfaces, and the tap.

Then, thoroughly rub the sink with the lemons. Rinse with water and dry with a paper towel.
